Peep This Actors-Directors Guild is the non-profit organization that presents On The Set Summer Film Camp. The Actors-Directors Guild was created and established by David Tucker, Jr. in 2007. David became the first person in the State of Alabama to write, direct, produce and sell a film into national distribution in year 2000. David was the first African American to be appointed to the previous Birmingham Jefferson Film Commission and sold his 2nd feature film, “Magic City” to Carmike Theaters in 2005. David was also selected as the Executive Director and Producer of the documentary “FIFTY”, which chronicles historical events of the Birmingham City Council during the Civil Rights Movement.
The mission of Peep This Actors-Directors Guild is to serve as a public laboratory for showcasing academic year and summer professional training and research in film, theater and music for Birmingham and the State of Alabama youth. It is our purpose to be a vital community resource by providing creative and accessible programs through which young people can experience meaningful development in a safe and accepting environment.
On The Set teaches the full realm of filmmaking to kids between the ages of 10 to 18. The campers go on location and are placed on a live action set to shoot a short film that stars a real Hollywood Actor! They are literally given full responsibility of each element of film production, while being supervised by a professional. Once the film is ready to be shown, On The Set presents a RED Carpet Premiere and Awards Show! There is no other film camp in the world that offers the entire process of filmmaking on this level!
Tucker saw the vision to expand and offer opportunities to youth outside of Birmingham. He partnered with Marlon Whitfield to bring On The Set to St. Louis.
Marlon has been in the entertainment industry for over a decade working with various artist such as Nelly, Amber Rose and Faison Love. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Avila University and has put together a dream team of St. Louis producers, directors and writers who have worked with a variety of networks such as BET, VH1 and Revolt TV. Marlon is excited to take On The Set Summer Film Camp to new levels.
As a young black man growing up in St. Louis, Marlon has always demanded more from himself. He dreamed big and wanted more than what he was told he could have. He is a prime example of what perseverance, a positive attitude and hard work will get you. His goal is to provide that fire in our youth that makes them want to put in the extra work today because they believe in a better tomorrow.
